I have developed quite a lot of self-discipline and stamina during my years on stage as a singer, actor and dancer. These are skills that are essential in my professional life; very practical for the yoga and meditation part of my life – and they have proven to be indispensable in my more recent incarnation as a parent. More than anything, I think, patience, introspection and the ability to take responsibilty for your own actions, thoughts and feelings are the basis of parenting. Plus keeping your sense of humor alive… The rewards are breathtaking in their beauty.
There is no dress rehearsal. It’s opening night every morning, and the spotlight is on you!
Then again, perhaps the dress rehearsal was our own childhood.
